ONE SIMPLE MINDSET SHIFT TO TAKE YOU FROM SURVIVING TO THRIVING

What to do when you want to dream big but you’re stuck

Maybe you can relate?

Once you hoped and dreamed and imagined. Positivity reigned and you lived with passion in your heart and a zeal for life. Fast forward to the present and you know something big has changed, but you’re not sure what or how you got here! Stuck in a rut, just getting by, you’re likely feeling apathetic with no more big dreams and rather than thriving you’re simply surviving. You’re playing small and you know it, but you see no way out.

Don’t be hard onyourself! After a few failures, put downs or knock downs it easy to stop dreaming and believing for what’s possible. Instead, we listen to that familiar voice that says ‘it’s always been like this, so it’s probably never going to change’…but the truth is, if you focus on the ‘probable’ it ‘probably’ won’t!

Take Heart!

If that’s how you feel, there’s good news. You can totally turn this around and see massive shifts in a very short space of time.

How??

Wherever it is you’re feeling stuck right now…in business, in life, in leadership…allow your imagination to run wild for a moment and ask yourself ‘what could be?’ ‘What are the possibilities?’

When you focus on the PROBABLE it conditions you to stay stuck, but when you choose to make your focus what is POSSIBLE, everything changes.

We are all taught that in order to move forward we must learn to think POSITIVELY about whatever situation we’re in. Of course, that’s a step in the right direction, but when we take it one step further and choose not just POSITIVE thinking but to exercise POSSIBILITY thinking, we make a shift that enables us to become aware of the hidden possibilities, even in the most negative of situations. It really is such a powerful practice and one that if we practice it often can cause us to become people of limitless possibilities.

We’ve all heard the quotes about everything being possible if we will just believe. The truth is that every day is full of new possibilities; we just have to choose our focus and learn to see them.

Remember that every day you have a choice. Instead of focusing on the things that look impossible, choose to imagine the possibilities. To lift yourself up and out of the ‘box’ you may have been squeezed into, either by yourself or the thoughts and opinions of those around you and start to dream again.

Everything looks so much brighter and feels so much lighter in the land of possible. You start to hope with a sense of excitement and to live with a real sense of passion and purpose. You’re willing to take risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone, and are able to see more clearly and take positive steps forward to see the possibilities become reality.

A simple change of focus is all it takes. I’m not saying it’s easy, especially if you’ve been through seasons of disappointment and disillusionment. But, it starts with shifting your focus, changing your perspective, and allowing yourself to imagine what could be, even if you can’t yet imagine how it could happen.

Pope John XXIII said it like this…

“Consult not your fears, but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with with you tried and failed in, but with what is still possible for you to do”

So today…choose your focus and start to see what unfolds, even as a result of that one simple mind shift.
